Apophysis

Apophysis

I am going to create a great Apophysis effect that works good for banners and backgrounds.

First create a new document that is 500px X 500px (or any square canvas) and fill it with black color.

Now go to Filter>Render>Lens Flare and apply these settings: Brightness 101% Lens Type 50-300mm zoom

Go to Filter>Render>Lens Flare and apply a smaller one with these settings: Brightness 70% Lens Type 50-300mm zoom

Now make another one with the same settings as bellow:

Go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges You should have this

Press Ctrl+I on your keyboard to invert the colors.

Now go to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (Ctrl+U on your keyboard) and with the colorize is checked, apply these settings

You should have something similar to this

Now it is time to give it a nice effect, go to Filter>Distort>Wave

Now you have this

Duplicate this layer (Ctrl+J) and change the layer mode to Screen Now go to Edit>Transform>Flip Vertically Now you have this:

Merge these two layers (Ctrl+E) and go to Image>Apply Image like this

Here is the final result, use it any way you like:

Try it out with more different colors and blending modes for more great effects.
